Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Queen Blessing Ebigieson, is many things rolled into one. She is a seasoned actress, model, TV host, movie producer, and the founder/president of Queen Blessing Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), which aims at ameliorating the plight of less privileged Nigerians, especially indigent widows.

A native of Okpella, Etsako East Council of Edo State, Queen was born in Benue State. She was educated at the famous Federal Polytechnic, Bida, where she studied mass communication.

Black Queen, as fans and admirers fondly call her, is passionate about entertainment, and her involvement in the sector cuts across all genres. She has had stint with modeling and dancing, after which she made up her mind to channel all her energies into acting and movie productions, alongside her charity organisation.

Professionally, her acting career began in the year 2000. Since then, Queen has starred in over 60 movies and soap operas including, Super Story, This Life, Eldorado, Girls Next Door, Moment of Joy, Sweet Love, Pretty Angels, Romantic touch, Romantic Attraction, Borokini, Lori Ere, T.N.K, Ejomiko, Power of Trust, Lost Love, Empty Coffin, Ileri Ife, Ibajemi Dewa, Fix it or Kill it, Back 2 Back and many other hit flicks.

She has also produced some notable Yoruba and English films, which include, Borokini, Lori Ere, T.N.K, Ejomiko, Ileri Ife, Ibajemi Dewa, Fix it or Kill it, Hatred and others, making her one of the youngest independent producers in the country.

On life as a film producer, Queen said: “Nothing out of the ordinary; my life is pretty much the same. I live a very simple life and I work very hard to live up to my expectations as a filmmaker. I have always loved to be in front of the screen and people always told me I look and talk like actors and also walk like models.

So, with so much hardship at a time, I decided to give it a shot, and here I am, 19 years after, an all round entertainer. I’m grateful to God, my fans, friends and also well-wishers for everything.”

On what attracts her to a movie script, she said it must pass a strong message to viewers and teach vital lessons to enable people learn from it. “A good film should be interesting and at the same time teach valuable lessons. I try as much as I can to take part in stories that put us in a positive light,” she said.

The lady added, “I have four films that I’m working on at the moment — Two English and two Yoruba movies. Ife Otito and Adakeja, Fix it or Kill are almost ready while the last one Hatred will be finished soon. All the four films are written and produced by me.”

Sharing her view on the industry, Queen said it is going places. “We are making progress, it just needs a little push. As you know, what we have recorded so far is as a result of our individual effort. Imagine if government comes in and supports the sector, it will be a win-win situation for us all.

“As an actress, I believe I am the mirror and light to the world. So, I must at all times, lead by example as many people (both young and old) look up to me. My message to those who would like to be producers, to never give up in life, the hustle is real and it pays off eventually if you don’t give up. Also, they must remember, that money can’t not buy honestly, integrity, and determination. Faith is what keeps dreams alive, and hard work is what brings dreams to reality.”
