Conference to expand Yorubaland horizons begins December 6

Insa Nolte of the University of Birmingham who also doubles as President, African Studies Association of the UK (ASAUK) and visiting Research Professor of Osun State University and Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo will alongside Olukoya Ogen, a Professor of History, as well as visiting Research Fellow to DASA, University of Birmingham and current Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, be among academics that would beam searchlights on the Yorubaland.

This International Conference is scheduled to hold at the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, from December 6 to 8. Among the keynoter and lead paper speakers are: Prof. Toyin Falola of the University of Texas, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju and Prof. Adebayo Lawal of the University of Lagos. Others include Prof. Rasheed Ajetunmobi of Tai Solarin University of Education and Prof. Dipo Olubomehin of Olabisi Onabanjo University, among other established and young scholars from home and abroad.

To make the event a colourful, series of arts exhibition and cultural displays from Coastal Yorubaland would form part of the conference. Organisers have also scheduled a one-day excursion to some notable coastal communities in Ondo State to round off the event. The excursion is particularly significant because Ilajeland in Ondo State with a shoreline of about 180 km, has the longest coastline in Nigeria.
