Chocolate City Unsigned Unites Chocolate City, EbonyLife TV

CHOCOLATE City and EbonyLife TV have forged a partnership for a music talent hunt called Chocolate City Unsigned, a reality TV show that will unearth Africa’s next biggest music star.

CHOCOLATE City and EbonyLife TV have forged a partnership for a music talent hunt called Chocolate City Unsigned, a reality TV show that will unearth Africa’s next biggest music star. Chocolate City is Africa’s biggest indigenous record label while EbonyLife TV is Africa’s first global black entertainment and lifestyle network and production powerhouse. The partnership was announced at a press conference held on January 28, 2016.

Present at the ceremony were the Executive Chairman and CEO of EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu, President of Chocolate City Group, Audu Makori, CEO of Chocolate City, Jude Abaga (M.I), as well as Panshak Zamani (Ice Prince), Victoria Kimani and other artistes.

Chocolate City Unsigned is an indigenous pan-African talent hunt show that aims to discover, develop and support fresh artistes, giving them a platform to showcase their skills, launch their careers.

According to Maikori, “Chocolate City Unsigned is set to bring in something that no music reality TV has ever had – artist discovery, development and support from a team that has done so with some of Nigerians biggest artistes. The competition is the first indigenous music reality TV show in Nigeria to discover new talents across the African.”

According to Maikori, Africa is noted as the home of rapidly growing, vibrant youths who are passionate about music and are eager to make careers out of it. Chocolate City Unsigned creates opportunity for brands that not only wish to gain a foothold with Africa’s new audiences, but also understand just how important music is to its youngsters. He noted that sponsors for the show would be unveiled by the end of March 2016. Registration for Chocolate City Unsigned competition is open to all interested participants across Africa from March 21, 2016 while the competition proper is billed to commence in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2016. Chocolate City Unsigned will be televised on EbonyLife TV and other selected TV channels.

He also said Mo Abudu’s movie Fifty, from the EbonyLife Films’ stable, is highly successful as one of the longest-running cinema releases in Nigeria’s film history, adding, “Africa is brimming with thousands of yet-to-be-discovered talent and this partnership between EbonyLife TV and Chocolate City, through Chocolate City Unsigned, is poised to create an indigenous platform that guarantees youths jobs from a record label that understands African music and makes them relevant to the African market. We are greatly excited about this platform, not only for the African youth, but also for brands that appreciate the power of music”.

CEO of Chocolate City, Abaga, explained, “Chocolate City Unsigned is about creating stars. I’m a living proof of this exciting reality and we are ready to take others on this amazing journey to stardom. Chocolate City and EbonyLife TV are prepared to make music stars. We create stars because we value these raw talents and help them to the top. Chocolate City Unsigned will do nothing less”.
