Basketmouth, Senator, Frank D Don eulogise Glo for supporting entertainment
Comedians participating in the ongoing nationwide Glo Laffta Fest shows have paid glowing tributes to Globacom for its huge investment in the entertainment industry, especially the comedy genre.
Speaking at the fourth edition of the show held at the Trade and Investment Centre, Owerri, Imo State, a cross section of the humour merchants opined that comedy induces laughter, which produces good hormones and concomitantly confers the feeling of having had a good vacation in recipients.
One of the comedians, Frank the Don commended Globacom for believing in comedians and recognising their importance in the promotion of general well being of the people. He said the Glo Laffta Fest shows are mitigating the effect of the harsh economic recession on Nigerians.
Bright Okpocha alias Basketmouth enthused: “We are stress-busters. Our gratitude goes to Globacom for engaging us and giving us the platform to showcase our skills. It is heart warming to note that comedy in Nigeria is growing in leaps and bounds.”
In the words of another comedian popularly called Senator, “the economic recession has been adversely affecting the organisation of comedy shows, but Globacom is giving us a lifeline with Glo Laffta Fest. Big ups to the company!”
Similarly, some attendees at the Owerri show also lauded the telecom company for introducing the show at a time Nigerians are facing a lot of stress.
Pius Eke, a student of the University of Technology, Owerri who was among the earliest to arrive the venue of the event on Sunday described the timing of the shows as ‘brilliant’.
Eke observed thus: “The anxieties of an average person in Nigeria today are many. We worry about virtually everything. Security, power, accommodation and even where our next meal will come from. But in the interest of our health, we should sometimes take our minds off these things and enjoy hearty laughter, as comedy makes people forget their pain and distress.”
