CONGO--6-11-2015Magnum photographers Alex Majoli and Paolo Pelegrin, in conjunction with Art Twenty One and Cherry Tree (CT) Arts initiatives last weekend staged an exhibition titled Another Congo. It featured the works of Mojoli and Pellegrin to art lovers in Nigeria. The exhibition which opened last Saturday at the Eko Hotel and Suites is an artistic commission documenting contemporary life in the Congo, which the acclaimed photojournalists have formed an intimate portrait of Congolese culture through an immersive photographic installation.

Closing on November 30, the exhibition was first launched during ParisPhoto in Paris, France, in November 2014 and travelled to the recontress d’Arles photography festival in Arles, France in July 2015.

Among his many achievements, Alex Majoli joined the f45 Studio in Ravenna, Italy at the age of 15, working with Daniel Casadio. Since 2001 Majoli has been a full member of Magnum Photos. Majoli has documented diverse subjects including the closure of an insane asylum in Greece, The Taliban in Afganistan and Iraq, favelas in South America, and a long term project about port cities around the world.

Paolo Pellergrin is an award-winning photojournalist who has covered international conflicts and events through his distinguished career. Coming to the African continent for the first time, Another Congo is made possible with the support of Access Bank and Eko Hotel.
