Wema Bank appoints new managing director, DMD

Wema Bank has appointed Ademola Adebisi as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.His appointment followed the retirement of Segun Oloketuyi in September.

Wema Bank has appointed Ademola Adebisi as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.His appointment followed the retirement of Segun Oloketuyi in September.

Until his appointment, Adebisi was the former Deputy Managing Director of the bank with over 28 years’ experience in the banking industry.According to a statement, Adebisi Adebisi has been part of the Bank’s executive management team since 2009 and has played pivotal role in the execution of the strategic turnaround plan of the bank.

The lender also announced the appointment of Moruf Oseni as its new Deputy Managing Director. Before now, Oseni was the bank’s former executive director in charge of retail business.

The statement explained that Oseni contributed immensely to growing the bank’s retail business was instrument to the launch of ALAT, Nigeria’s first digital bank.The Chairman of the Bank, Babatunde Kasali, said, “In Ademola and Moruf, the bank has two financial veterans with a wealth of experience in senior executive positions across a wide range of countries.

“With their proven track record in the financial services sector, the board is confident that their appointments will lead to the continued transformation of the Bank as it positions itself as a market leader in Nigeria’s retail banking segment through technology and innovation.”
