Udoma extends Kale’s tenure as NBS boss

In what appears to be last minutes power play, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, directed that the tenure of Statistician-General,Dr. Yemi Kale, should be elongated beyond the completion tenure.

In what appears to be last minutes power play, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, directed that the tenure of Statistician-General,Dr. Yemi Kale, should be elongated beyond the completion tenure.

According to an official National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) circular with ref number 39/ABJ/NAL PLAN/142,dated 17th August, 2016, addressed to all departmentmental, Divisional and Unit heads in Ibadan, Kaduna and Enugu state chapters of the bureau, the tenure of Dr Yemi Kale has been extended by the Budget and National Planning Minister.

Udoma, according to the memo was however silent on the lenght of Kale’s extension of service at the bureau.

A copy of the memo obtained by The Guardian yesterday read:”Extension of tenure of the statistician-general of National Bureau of Statistics, Dr.Yemi Kale; I am directed to refer to letter No NPC/AB/SEC/2014 August, 2016 on the above subject matter from the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, that Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma has approved the tenure extension of the Statistician-General,Yemi Kale.
