U.S., Nigeria Trade Council gets new chairman

The United States (U.S.) -Nigeria Trade Council, has appointed a new chairman, Iyalode Alaba Lawson to provide leadership and direction for its programmes, policy and strategic efforts to improve trade traffic between both countries.

The United States (U.S.) -Nigeria Trade Council, has appointed a new chairman, Iyalode Alaba Lawson to provide leadership and direction for its programmes, policy and strategic efforts to improve trade traffic between both countries.

The Trade Council also welcomes new members to its Advisory Board.Lawson, a consummate businesswoman, entrepreneur and academic, is the Proprietor of Lawson Group of Schools and Chairman, Abestone Microfinance Bank.

She was the Chairman, Governing Council, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ogun State, fellow, Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD), Justice of Peace (JP) and Council Member, Nigeria British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC).

She currently serves as the president of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).Lawson would be attending the next US-Nigeria Agribusiness (Non-Oil) Investment Summit & Expo, slated for November 16-18, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and will be leading NACCIMA delegation to the event.

The New board members are: The Elerinmo of Erinmo, Osun State, Oba Michael Ajayi; former Chairman of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries and currently MD/CEO of Critall-Hope Nigeria Ltd, Remi Bello and Managing Director/CEO Intellectual Concepts, Atlanta, DeLois Babiker.

Others are Chair & Charles E. Merrill Professor, Morehouse College, Atlanta, Prof. Juliet Elu, Mohammed Audu; Managing Director/CEO, JAFCON Home Development (Nig) Ltd, Onyebuchi Okafor and pioneer Chairman/CEO of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Isa Mohammad Ari.

The US-Nigeria Trade Council, USA is dedicated to strengthening and enriching investments and trade between the U.S. and Nigeria.The Council provides a bilateral forum on key economic, commercial and professional initiatives, as well as business opportunities of interest to American companies operating in Nigeria, as well as Nigerian companies planning trade ties and business expansion to U.S. markets.
