TOTAL E&P Nigeria trains 15,000 youths in skill acquisition
Total E&P Nigerian Limited has empowered 15,000 youths as part of its entrepreneurship drive to reduce poverty among young population.
Engr. Vincent Nnadi of Total Upstream Companies, who stated this at the graduation of 44 youths in Minna, Niger State, said the aim of the training was to make young people self-reliance.
He added that human capacity development that leads to gainful employment was one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and ensure sustainable economic growth.
“Total aimed to empower as many people as possible and actively support nation building efforts in line with United Nation’s sustainable development goals numbers one and eight,” he remarked.
Equally, he explained that the beneficiaries have received equipment that would help them start their businesses, adding that this would enable them launch careers in entrepreneurships.
On her part, the trainer, Dr. Claudia Okeke of Aids for Women, Adolescent, and Children International Organisation, appreciated the students for their doggedness and diligence in their various skills.
She added that the true dividends would be measured when the beneficiaries use the acquired skills to make money and become economic forces in their respective communities.
Okeke, thanked ministry of youth and sports development for supporting the six-week intensive training programme, urging participants to make use of the trade.
