Total E&P empowers 250 trainees in A’Ibom
Total E&P Nigeria Limited has renewed its commitment to support government’s efforts at empowering Nigerian youths for sustainable livelihood, poverty alleviation and small-scale enterprise development in the country.
The Executive General Manager, Port Harcourt Administration, Joseph Ajilore, disclosed this at the graduating ceremony of the 10th batch Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/TEPNG skills acquisition training programme for Akwa Ibom communities held at Governor’s Office Annex, Uyo.
Represented by Deputy General Manager, Sustainable, Cyprian Ojumhe, he said the objective of the programmee was aimed at eliminating youth’s restiveness and encouraging local businesses.
He explained that the scheme runs in two major training areas of ordinary skill and special skill.
“Under the ordinary skill scheme 200 beneficiaries graduated with starter parks and one year rent for their workshop, while 50 beneficiaries graduated from the special skill scheme.
“The products of this scheme have engaged themselves in self-empowerment and others in paid employment, graduates of this good number of them are now business owners, workshop operators and small scale entrepreneurs operating in the rural communities of Akwa Ibom State”, he added.
Besides, he charged the beneficiaries to ensure maximum use of the equipment, adding that, the compnay would continue to monitor them to ensure sustainability.
