Rotary Club honours Systemspecs on CSR initiatives

Rotary Club International, District 9110, Nigeria has honoured Systemspecs, developers of Remita and pioneers of financial software development in Africa, for its contribution towards a better society.

The company received the award at the installation of District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Wale Ogunbadejo, recently in Lagos.

Its Head of Human Resources Management, Timitope Ologunoye, said the company relates with Rotary Club’s ideals to build better communities, create impact by ensuring that professionals act ethically in every area of practice and seek to protect world peace and good will across the world.

Ologunoye who also doubles as the Acting Divisional Head, Corporate Services, said the firm holds dearly these ideals associating with Rotary to end polio in Nigeria and Africa as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

He noted that the company has been investing in sponsorships targeted at helping people below the bottom of the pyramid, adding: “These are people who don’t have access to good healthcare, which falls under the category of people rotary caters for.

“As an organisation, we have supported the campaign to end the polio epidemic in our world. With Nigeria’s position in the committee of nations, it should be said that the country is still experiencing the polio epidemic.

With the coming of the new governor, our support would help to make a difference not only in Lagos and Ogun states but also across Nigeria and the African continent,” he said.

He revealed that the award would spur the company to do better in creating social goodwill for all.

Speaking, Ogunbadejo reaffirmed the club’s commitment to remove Nigeria from the polio endemic countries by ensuring that the district contributes substantial funds to fighting the virus.

Ogunbadejo lamented the setback Nigeria suffered, as it remained one of the countries still contending with polio alongside Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He promised to ensure that the district contributes not less than $100,000 during his tenure, which would go a long way to eradicating the virus and bringing peace to Nigeria and the two other countries.
