The management of Kwara Hotels, Harmony Holdings Limited (HHL) has attributed non-payment of salaries of its workers to poor sales. Harmony Holdings had taken over the management of the hotels on October 11 2016, with prompt intervention in the critical areas of the hotels, especially in the payment of workers’ salaries.

However, some staff of the hotel have in recent times been agitating for the payment of some of their outstanding allowances. But its Head of Corporate Affairs Kayode Aremu yesterday at a press briefing in Ilorin said the delay was not unconnected to the low turnovers at the hotel.

Besides, Aremu alleged that the hotels’ indebtedness to its suppliers over the years, public utilities and tax authorities were management’s primary concern in the present circumstances but assured the workers that all outstanding emoluments owed them would be settled soon.

“We started paying salaries right from the very first month we took over the management of the hotels. More rooms have been renovated to make the hotels more liquid and profitable,” he added.
