Pedabo advises government on tax harmonisation

Improving the nation’s current six per cent contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), experts have advised government on the need to harmonise tax pay roll and agencies to avoid them working at cross purposes.

They argued that if taxpayers were aware of what they are supposed to pay in terms of certainty of the amount, the collection authority, the usage of the revenue, as well as government’s consistency on policies in expanding the tax net, there would be improvement in its revenue base.

This was the opinion of Managing Partner, Pedabo Professionals Services, Ajibade Fashina, at the firm’s 20th anniversary celebration, just as another partner, Killian Khanoba, urged government to help indigenous audit firms’ work with bigger ones to fast-track growth. 

Fashina, who gave an insight into how the firm started operations with less than five staff, said it currently has about 100 workers on its payroll. 

He said the firm’s metamorphosis is evident in its growth trajectory, its client’s base, public acceptability, and being among the top four audit firms in Nigeria.

Folorunsho disclosed that at inception, Pedabo targeted to become a clear leader in auditing within 20 years, adding that its efforts paid off through the quality of the clientele, who are leaders in various sectors of the economy.
