Improving the nation’s current six per cent contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), experts have advised government on the need to harmonise tax pay roll and agencies to avoid them working at cross purposes.

They argued that if taxpayers were aware of what they are supposed to pay in terms of certainty of the amount, the collection authority, the usage of the revenue, as well as government’s consistency on policies in expanding the tax net, there would be improvement in its revenue base.

This was the opinion of Managing Partner, Pedabo Professionals Services, Ajibade Fashina, at the firm’s 20th anniversary celebration, just as another partner, Killian Khanoba, urged government to help indigenous audit firms’ work with bigger ones to fast-track growth.

Fashina, who gave an insight into how the firm started operations with less than five staff, said it currently has about 100 workers on its payroll.

He said the firm’s metamorphosis is evident in its growth trajectory, its client’s base, public acceptability, and being among the top four audit firms in Nigeria.

Restating Pedabo’s commitment to effective service delivery, Fashina said: “Over the years, what we were trying to do was ensure the quality of service we rendered to our clients was consistent and in line with industry practice, to enable us compete favourably with other leading firms, and to also become a leading firm.

“We focus on enhancing the potential of our clients’ businesses by providing timely solutions through the expertise and experience of our team of seasoned professionals, while maintaining our core values of integrity and high-performance standards.”

Speaking on how the firm was able to surmount its challenges, Pedabo’s Managing Consultant, Albert Folorunsho, said the company was able to up its game, and adopted modern processes and technologies that meet clients’need to compete favourably with firms that have international affiliations.

Folorunsho disclosed that at inception, Pedabo targeted to become a clear leader in auditing within 20 years, adding that its efforts paid off through the quality of the clientele, who are leaders in various sectors of the economy.
An indigenous firm with an international outlook, Pedabo is a member of Morison KSi, a global association of leading professional service firms operating in 86 countries worldwide.
