NYSC DG charges corps members on job creation

The Director General of the National Youth Service (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Suleiman Zakari Kazaure has charged corps members to create jobs for themselves rather than comb the streets in search of white-collar job after their mandatory service.

He gave the charge while addressing corps members at the orientation camp in Taraba State, adding that corps members should take into consideration the four cardinal points of the scheme and go extra miles to acquaint themselves with relevant skills that would make them useful to themselves and the society after their service year.

Certain that they were in a position to create wealth for themselves, he said, “Try as much as possible and create jobs and don’t wait for white-collar jobs.”Kazaure also advised them to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities to enable them integrate with members of the communities and avoid unnecessary crisis.

The NYSC boss, who said their security was paramount to the country, charged the youths to also play their assigned roles by being security conscious.“Be security conscious. Don’t move alone. Always move in groups because I don’t want my children to be kidnapped. Be good ambassadors of your family, the NYSC and the country at large,” he advised.

Kazaure also charged the youths to initiate and execute projects that would transform their places of primary assignments. Speaking earlier, the state coordinator, Alpine Japheth Akyam noted that the unity and teamwork among the NYSC staff was responsible for the success of the scheme in the state, adding, “The NYSC in Taraba has being enjoying tremendous support from the state government.”
