The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) has dissociated itself from a press statement by a political pressure group known as National Intervention Movement (NIM).

The statement allegedly issued by the political pressure group was a reaction on the New Year speech by President Muhammadu Buhari, which was signed by Head, National Publicity Bureau, NIM Secretariat, Abuja, Naseer Kura.

In a swift reaction, the Nigerian Institute of Management in a statement signed by its Registrar and Chief Executive, Tony Fadaka, said that such press statement did not emanate from the institute, even though it has the same acronym with that of the institute.

The statement explained that the institute is reacting to the said press statement because of the backlash it has received from its members, non-members, governments, the corporate world and other stakeholders.

According to the statement, the content of the said press statement does not reflect the views of the Institute on the New Year speech by President Buhari, noting that the Institute has been in constant discussions with the various tiers of government with the sole aim of supporting them in setting the country on the path to progress and sustainable development.

It added: “Every press statement from the Institute emanates from either the office of the President and Chairman of Council or the Registrar and Chief Executive, and no other person speaks on behalf of the Institute on issues of national importance, such as the one under reference.

“The Institute finds it necessary to issue this statement to set the records straight and dissociate itself from the press statement by the National Intervention Movement.”
