Niger lauds Buhari for confirming police boss
The Niger state government has lauded the Council of State for confirming the appointment of Ibrahim Idris as the Inspector General of Police.
The state government in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for finding one of the sons of the state worthy of leading a new regime of policing in the country.
The government stated that though the new Inspector General was leading the police force at a trying time of various security challenges, it however, urged the new IGP to consider his confirmation as a challenge and greater responsibility to bring his experiences over the years to bear to have a rewarding stewardship.
Vatsa stated that the experience of the Inspector General Kpotun, as a super operation cop will be very invaluable to help the nation overcome its security challenges with prayers and support.
He stated that the Force needed a Police officer like Idris who has the exposure of policing outside the shore of Nigeria to confront frontally the security challenges with all honesty and dexterity it deserves.
“Niger state government has no doubt that with his experience in terms of police operation he will achieve in his assignment as Inspector General of police , we are confident that he will build an enviable police force that will be able to ensure the desired security of lives and property.”
While praying that God should direct the affairs of the new inspector general to deliver on his mandate, he added that the Niger state government has full confidence in the ability of the confirmed head of the police force to succeed.
