NESA raises capacity in small business startups

The New Economy Skills Acquisition (NESA), a software development institute, has disclosed plans to raise capacity and get more Nigerians fully engaged in their own business startups.

Its co-founder, Obinna Ukwuani, said told The Guardian that this was part of their effort to equip young people with the requisite skills to maximize their capacity and create value for themselves and the society at large.

“Our first course-full-stack web development (FSWD) is an intensive, full-time, six-month introduction to designing and building web applications.

“The first three months will be a project-based academic experience designed to get students up to speed while the last three months will be used for real projects in companies where the students will have an opportunity to learn as developers before graduating from NESA,” he said.

He added that they would leave the programme with a full understanding of as HTML/CSS, Java Script and PHP/SQL languages, as well as ReactJS, Laravel and Bootstrap frameworks.

Ukwuani assured that the participants would learn the most relevant skills from seasoned software development professionals, access a pool of mentors from technology ecosystems around the world and build real web applications.

They would also be able to work on live software projects from real companies, build a robust developer portfolio, receive career support and find employment opportunities after the training.
