NDDC partners tertiary institutions on graduates’ training

DETERMINED to ensure that quality graduates are turned out from higher institutions, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has concluded plans to engage in a sustainable partnership with Universities, Polytechnic and Colleges of Education in the Niger Delta region of the country.

The Member, Representing Delta State on the Governing Board of the NDDC, Chief Tom Amioku who disclosed this recently at the commissioning of a multi-million naira Engineering Workshop project at the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Ethiope West Local Council, said the Commission embarked on the construction of the Engineering Workshop project for the training of “our students who will be better equipped to fill the gap in providing the technical expertise for the success of local content agenda”.

According to him, the projects commissioned include a Mechanical and Electrical workshop with administrative offices, provision of electrical materials and fittings and also plumbing and engineering installations.

At the commissioning of various projects in Warri North, Warri South, Sapele, Ethiope West and Uvwie council areas, the Delta NDDC Commissioner told the people that the Commission’s noble objective of transforming the Niger delta region and bringing rapid sustainable development can only be achieved in a peaceful atmosphere.

He said: “The NDDC embarked on the construction of the Engineering Workshop project for the training of our students who will be better equipped to fill the gap in providing the technical expertise for the success of local content agenda.”

He therefore called for their continued support and cooperation in the complex development process of the resource rich but impoverished Niger delta region.

Among the projects are Okirighwere-Amukpe-Shell and Agelaye roads in Sapele local council; Sohworvwe street in Warri South; Mathew Abude road, Effurun, some internal roads at Effurun Army Barracks, Ogbe Avenue-Keme lane-Efetobor Street, Jakpa and Ufuoma Farm roads, Ekpan as well as Solar Street lights at Onoyake street-Agbamu Cresent, DDPA, Ugborikoko, all in Uvwie local council and many others in the different councils.
