MWUN president chairs seafarers’ section of ITF

President of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, has been elected chairman of seafarers’ section, Africa region of the International Transport Federation (ITF).

President of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, has been elected chairman of seafarers’ section, Africa region of the International Transport Federation (ITF).

ITF is the global federation of all transport unions with over 263 affiliates and over 20 million members and Nigeria as one of the 54 African countries affiliated to it.Adeyanju was unanimously elected chairman at the ninth African regional conference by the Nigerian chapter of ITF in Abuja.

In a statement by the Secretary General of MWUN, Comrade Felix Akingboye, he solicited support of all stakeholders to make Adeyanju’s tenure successful in taking the maritime sector to a higher level.

“It is our pleasure to inform you that at the end of the ninth African Regional Conference held on March 9, 2018, in Abuja, Nigeria, in which over 54 African nations participated, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju , our President General, was unanimously elected Chairman, Seafarers Section, ITF African Region,” the statement reads.
