Lalong laments cash crunch, to settle council issue out of court

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has lamented that overhead cost no longer gets to his office as a result of the cash crunch in the country. He made the assertion during a chat with journalists while responding to a question on his commissioners who are facing cash crunch, especially the overhead.

He said it was not only the commissioners that were affected by lack of funds but he as governor was also affected.

Lalong pointed out that if overhead cost was implemented, the monthly salaries of workers, which the state has been striving to pay regularly would suffer a serious setback.

“Which one do you want? We must manage what we have. When you mention overhead, allocation from the federation account is dwindling and it is not enough,” he added.

On the dissolution of elected local government chairmen, which some critics have described political rascality, Lalong said the case was in court and that it would be improper to comment on an issue that was before court.

He however, added that the dissolved local council chairmen and the Plateau government were on the verge of settling the issue out of court.
