The Kebbi State Government has urged qualified medical doctors across the country to apply for employment in the state.

Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, said the move is aimed at addressing dearth of medical doctors in the state.

He stated this recently while distributing 40 laptop computers to the newly graduated medical doctors in Birnin Kebbi, saying that the donation would serve as a motivation and also support their services.

He added that all the newly graduated medical doctors have been given automatic appointments in the state Civil Service, adding that health sector needs massive manpower to boost the health indices in the state.

“Doctors from anywhere in the country are free to come and take up appointment with Kebbi State Government, and another batch of international medical experts would re-converge in the state for an outreach to offer free services and consultancy.

“Some of the medical students graduated from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, while others graduated from universities in Sudan and India,” he added.

During the presentation of the laptops, the Governor affirmed that the government would sustain the provision of scholarship to students to study in any part of the world to attain excellence while training and retraining those in service would equally be maintained.

He said the government has begun searching for English speaking University in China, where students of the state could be sent to study in pursuance of quality education.
