The Institute of Directors Nigeria (IoD Nigeria) will today, 27 April, 2017 confer the Honorary Fellowship Award on His Majesty, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha and the Distinguished Fellowship Award on Dr. Michael Olawole Omolayole at its Fellows’ Luncheon, slated for The Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event will feature the FS Advisory Leader/Chief Economist, PwC, Dr. Andrew Nevin and MD/CEO, Main One Cable, Ms. Funke Opeke as guest speakers on the theme: “2017 Budget Implementation and Challenges”.

Achebe is currently the Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Council, Unilever Nigeria, Intafact Beverages Limited (AB Inbev), Omak Maritime Limited, Tishona Limited, Hero’s Foundation, Chimedie Museum Trust Foundation; Trustee, National Traditional Rulers Council, Scout Association of Nigeria and Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello and Kogi State universities.

He is a former Chairman of Diamond Bank and Universal Insurance Plc and has honorary degrees of the Ahmadu Bello University, University of Nigeria, Anambra and Kogi State universities.

Omolayole is a management expert with many years of experience. He started his career with Lever Brothers Nigeria Limited as a Training Manager. From there he proved his outstanding qualities which saw him becoming the first Nigerian Chairman and Managing Director.
Dr. Omolayole has working experience in various sectors including Academics, Broadcasting, Business management and management consulting/policy analysis.

He is a past President of the National Institute of Management, Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management; and a former Pro-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, among many others.

According to the Acting DG/CEO of the Institute, Mr. Mohammed Jumba, the objective of the luncheon besides recognizing and honouring deserving business executives in different sectors, was to provide a platform to network, share experiences, gain new insights on key issues of importance to Corporate Nigeria, as well as nurture an enduring class of fellows and distinguished fellows for the institute.
