ICAN pledges support for war against corruption

The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has expressed its readiness to work with relevant agencies to tackle corruption in the country.

The new President of the Institute, Razak Jaiyeola, stated this during his investiture as the 54th president of ICAN in Lagos.

Jaiyeola had served as the second deputy vice-president of the institute in 2014/2015. He was elected president on March 29, 2018 to succeed the outgone president, Mallam Ismai’la Zakari.

The former food and drug inspector, promised to uplift the institute through the implementation of his conceived programmes among which are support for the government against corruption, investment in human, capital and infrastructural facilities.

He said efforts would be fast track to proffers new policies to the government to fix loopholes in the country’s economy and provision of standard and sustainable jobs for fresh accountants.

Former executives of ICAN, Council members, government officers, partners, colleagues, friends and well-wishers congregated to celebrate him including the deputy Governor of Kwara State, Yetunde Onanuga, Special Assistant to the President on Economic matters; Oluyemi Dipeolu, President, Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA), Stephen Seimavula and Gbenga Ashafa among others.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing President of ICAN, Mallam Zakari thanked members of the institution for their support and asked that such support should be extended to the incoming president.
