A group, Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change (NDIMRC), has commended the Massimo Insulla-led management of the Nigeria Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOC) for creating jobs for the youths of the oil-rich region.

In a statement by its president, Nelly Emma, it enjoined other multinationals to emulate the effort.

The group noted that Agip had reduced poverty in the region through its developmental and empowerment programmes.

The statement reads: “Jobs have been created for our army of unemployed youths by the company. We have been its activities closely. And we are impressed with its managing director for bringing development, employment and empowerment to the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

“The management of the company is very sensitive to the plight of our people. Its corporate social responsibility (CSR) is real. Other oil companies are playing games with the development of the region. Agip has shown that it is possible to eliminate poverty and insecurity from the region.”

It continued: “ We want these other multinational oil companies to emulate the good example of Agip. Today, our people are having a sense of belonging as a result of this company’s CSR programmes. Our people no longer feel neglected as they are being carried along.

“If others can do what Agip is doing, the whole of the region will be massively transformed.”
