The Gombe State government has perfected plans to begin home renovation loans to its civil servants.

To this end, the Head of Gombe civil service Dr. Deniel Mohammed Musa said the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to provide a platform for home renovation loan scheme.

While speaking in Gombe in his office recently, Musa explained that the MoU will create an avenue for civil servant to access a new package brought to them by the bank.

According to him, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo has graciously given an approval for the package, which is in line with his policies to take care of the workers.

Musa highlighted that the home renovation loan is pegged at N1million maximum, which will attract six per cent interest, payable within five years, adding that, “those that have only one year to retire are not eligible to apply.”

He appealed to the civil servants to reciprocate the gesture.

“We must not shy away from all that we were employed to do. We should continue to put in our best. The Governor is aware of our predicament and he is ever ready to address our plights,” he said.

Also speaking, the Gombe state coordinator of the bank, Ahmed Bello, said the funds for the loan would be released with immediate effects.
