Ghana’s President, Ekwueme receive grand chancellor of Imo

Governor Rochas Okorocha has awarded Grand Chancellor State of State of Imo to the Ghanaian President, Nana Dankwa Ado-Akufo and former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, for their exemplary contributions to Nigeria and Africa.

Governor Rochas Okorocha has awarded Grand Chancellor State of State of Imo to the Ghanaian President, Nana Dankwa Ado-Akufo and former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, for their exemplary contributions to Nigeria and Africa.

The award ceremony, took place at Ikemba Ojukwu Centre, Owerri, after the book presentation in honour of Okorocha.The book titled: Rochas Revealed, was written by a former President of the Association of Nigeria Authors (ANA), Wale Okediran, in celebration of the governor’s 55th birthday anniversary.

In the maiden edition of the Merit Award ceremony, Okorocha, disclosed that the award had the legislative backing of the state government, expressing joy that the recipients got the highest of the categories.

Okorocha disclosed that the award series were for those who distinguished themselves within and outside the state and for their contributions to the development of Imo, Africa and other continents.

He commended the recipients for their inputs in democratic ideals.On behalf of the recipients, Ado-Akufo said he was delighted by Okorocha’s visionary thoughts in instituting such award series, regarding it as a great honour to humanity and his desire to build Africa.

His words: “I salute the vision of Governor Okorocha for choosing worthy citizens of other nations as the pioneer recipients of this great honour. This demonstrates his desire to build a United Africa, which we will all be proud of one day. “   

There had been the 10th graduation ceremony for the students of Rochas Foundation College in Kano, Jos, Owerri, Gboko, Ideato South, Imo and Oyo states, held at the Imo International Convention Centre, Owerri. 

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ado-Akufo, President Muhammadu Buhari’s representative and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, among others, attended the event.
