Foundation trains youths on leadership roles 

Founder of the Luka Agbu Memorial Foundation (LAMF), Mathias L. Agbu, has said society would become a better place if young people were developed to become leaders in their various communities.

He said this at a training peogramme it organised for youths in Takum and Ussa local councils of Taraba State.Agbu said the foundation was determined to make young people in the state and the country in general become change agents with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment.

He noted that the concept of new breed of leaders of the 21st century were courage, commitment, collaboration, visionary thinking and a deep respect for the gifts of others, adding that the only way to transform communities was to focus on the young people.

“The only way to transform communities is to first of all focus on the young people. If the people are transformed then the communities will follow suit,” he added.

Agbu stressed that the foundation was ready to be one of the major platforms that would bring about change in communities and challenged youths to eschew vices that are inimical to the growth of the state and the nation at large.

Noting that the conference was focused on inspiring and empowering the youths to make a positive difference in society, he pointed out that the world was changing at an exponential rate “and as a people, we need to align ourselves with the present day realities or else we would be left behind.”

Speaking, the programmes coordinator of the foundation, Cyril Abite Sale, urged the youths to use their gifts to fulfill their God given purpose and make the society a better place for all.

He noted that the foundation believed that every individual was a potential leader, adding that leadership requires knowledge, wisdom, action, experience, positive thinking and a sense of responsibility.In a paper titled: Teamwork, A Tool For Community Development And Advancement, a university teacher with the Federal University, Wukari, Dr. David Jatutu, charged the youths on the need to engage in teamwork.
