Foundation lifts elderly, vulnerable persons in Ogun

As part of its welfare support programme for the elderly and vulnerable, Help to the Ageing Foundation (HAF) has empowered over 300 people in Agbado Oja area of Ogun State.

It said the support was aimed at providing health, personal, financial and social needs for the deprived elderly in rural communities across Nigeria.

Speaking at the ‘feed a hundred project’ outreach, Founder of HAF, Jumoke Kolawole, said the reward of the foundation was to give hope to the hopeless by being socially conscious and focused on human needs.

Kolawole said there are a lot of deprived people in the community, some of who are physically challenged to the extent that such a community really needed intervention.

“We reach out to the deprived elderly people, right now we are at Agbado station where we are feeding and providing clothing to them. We giving out clothes, household items, beddings and ready to eat food because these people live on the streets. They beg for arms and they live on the road, so we are to encourage them, to show love, while giving some health talk while giving medical products.

In her words: “The fulfillment that comes from the outreach is the fact that they are going to be wearing a smile, which is enough for us. We just want to share from the little that we have. It is not that we have much but we are just a group of young people.

“If we get support from government, individuals or organisations, we might be able to reach out to more people. Now we bargained for a hundred people but right now we have over 300 people and the resources is small and it can only accommodate a few.”

Kolawole said the foundation was open to partnership with individuals or organisations that would share in its initiative to help the foundation achieve more.
