Experts task youths on nation building

Experts have charged to look inward, maximum their potential, increase productivity and add value to the society with their talents.

A talent coach and author, Kingsley-Obom Egbulem, made the call as business leaders, financial experts, and captains of industry converged to empower startups and business owners to sustain their businesses in Lagos.

Egbulem added that human beings have a lot of capacity, skills, talents, and gifts embedded in them, but had been unwittingly trivialized, adding that most of them rely on teachers or religious leaders to help spot talents and tell them what to do in life.

He added that the programme was designed to spot talents, groom and empower youths to become relevant locally and globally in their areas of interest.

According to him, mentoring was not so popular in Nigeria, and that most people get their mentorship training by making mistakes in schools, relationships, life, and businesses.

Another entrepreneur, Chukwuemeka Obi, advised participants to explore challenges they could resolve in their schools, environment, and community and efficiently render services by adhering strictly to pandemic guidelines.

Chief Executive Officer, JD Recycling, Olaide Ayodele, took the participants through her business challenges and achievement. She advised and encouraged them to pursue their vision and impact on others for a peaceful community and generation.

She concluded that youths should build strong relationships; they must learn to connect people, instrumental to healthy relationships through building great networks now and in the future.

Life coach and media expert, Daniel Akpata, urged the youth to engage in a self-discovery journey, stressing that leaders were builders of society because their purposes were connected with solving problems of the nation or community.

He noted that he teaches and mentors people through different platforms such as radio programme, books, and audio presentations.

A male participant and beneficiary told The Guardian that he benefited immensely from the training, saying it was informative, educational, and expository.

“I now have mentors I could run to for advice and ideas,” he said.
