Ex- PENGASSAN chairman tasks Buhari on economy
A former chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Nicholas Obi Nkwocha, has scored President Muhammadu Buhari low on the economy in the last two and half years on the saddle.
His poor rating of the economy, he argued, followed concerns about the excruciating poverty and hunger in the country.
Speaking at a send off party organised for him in Lagos by PENGASSAN, he said the Buhari administration had not done enough to address the increasing poverty and suffering across the country.
He stressed the need for the government to constitute an economic team that would come up with an economic blueprint on how to move the country out of the economic recession.
Nkwocha, however, commended the president on his anti-corruption fight, which he faulted as being selective.
Also speaking at the ceremony, former President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Peter Esele, commended Nkwocha for his honesty and integrity during his tenure and urged other labour leaders to emulate his sterling qualities and doggedness.
Other labour leaders who spoke at the occasion lauded the integrity, fear of God and honesty exhibited by Nkwocha during his tenure as PENGASSAN chairman in charge of Lagos, Edo, Ondo and Delta states.
