Evaluators association elects Adirieje President
The National Association of Evaluators has elected Dr Uzodinma Adirieje, as its new National President.According to the new National Publicity Secretary Adeola Awogbemi, other elected executives include Prof Olubunmi Ashimolowo, who emerged National Vice President, while Sanya Mathew is now the National General Secretary.
Anthony Ugwu was elected Assistance General Secretary,Dr. Temitope Olaifa became National Treasurer while Dr. Kura Kabiru is National Financial Secretary. Awogbemi hinted that the third yearly general meeting of the association which was held in Abuja members of the Board of Trustees, election committee, Australian Evaluation Association, UNICEF, UNDP, World Bank and financial members of the Association in attendance.
The meeting was presided over by the former Minister of National Planning and chairman of the NAE Board of Trustees, Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, who in his welcomed address commended the passion, resilience and commitment of members and the remarkable progress the association has made so far.
According to the Director, National Monitoring & Evaluation Department of the Ministry of Budget & National Planning, Dr. Zakariya’u Lawal, the department saw a need and bridged the gap by bringing all existing Monitoring and Evaluation Associations together under one umbrella Association with the support of the United Nations Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) that provided consistent support for programmes and activities of the Association including the registration of the Association with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The out-going Interim President, Aliyu Aminu Ahmed also gave an overview of activities of the Association since inception and thanked all members of various committees who worked tirelessly for the success of the association.The newly elected President of the association solicited the support of the members for the new executive committee.
