Edo NUJ, NAWOJ laud Obaseki on new appointment

The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and its affiliate Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have lauded key appointments made so far by governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and its affiliate Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have lauded key appointments made so far by governor Godwin Obaseki.

The governor appointed Osarodion Ogie as Secretary to State Government (SSG), Taiwo Akerele as Chief of Staff and John Mayaki as interim Chief Press Secretary upon assumption of office.

A statement by the state council chairman of NUJ, Roland Osakue, said the appointments were an indication of the governor’s determination to fulfill his social contract with the people of the state.

He said: “As you settle down to your new assignment of moving the state forward, we encourage you to ensure that the social contract this administration promised the Edo people remain sacrosanct.”

Also, a statement signed by the chairperson and secretary of NAWOJ, Flora Bassey and Rosemary Okoduwa, NAWOJ described the appointments as, “well deserved as they will bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new positions.“We are also confident that these appointees will embark on projects and programmes that will benefit the women and indeed the people of Edo state in general”
