Cleric berates government over youth empowerment schemes
Arogundade, who said this recently during the First Edition of Youth Empowerment Ceremony of Mary Queens of Angels’ Catholic Church, Akure, stressed that government should only organize the people and not to empower them.
He blamed government for its wrong priority of engaging itself in empowerment programmes instead of organizing the society, emphasizing that only proper organizing could bring Nigeria out of the wood.
“Let government stop all these nonsense of throwing money around: billions upon billions of naira, and nothing comes out of it. What government needs to do is to organise the people. No government builds a country.
“America was not built by American government, it was built by the people themselves; and it was because the people were organised to be able to build up themselves and build up their country. The government should stop being too arrogant. The government of this country are just too arrogant, they can’t do what they are claiming to do.”
He argued that 90 per cent of the problems bedevilling the nation would be solved if the people were organised.
The 25 beneficiaries received cash and equipment that worth millions of naira after they had been trained in vocations and skills like fabrication, laundry, decoration, fashion design, agriculture, bead-making from nine training institutes.
