THE Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has promised to partner the Federal Government as part of measures to tackle unemployment.

The President, CIPM, Anthony Arabome, who made this commitment during his investiture in Lagos, explained that the partnership would also include strengthening the educational sector in order to find solution to the menace from its roots.

He added that there were plans to align the institute’s curriculum with more tertiary institutions across the country. According to him, “We are now determined to make the graduates more marketable and most sought after at workplace”.

He acknowledged the success that the immediate past President of the institute, Victor Famuyibo, had recorded saying that, “the current success of CIPM would not have been possible without the excellent successive leaderships.”

The Chief Executive Officer, African Capital Alliance, Okechukwu Enelamah, expressed confidence in the institute’s ability to address job deficit and inadequate competence in the labour market under the leadership of Arabome.

He lamented that human resource was a challenge to both private and public sectors, as well as the civil society, adding that for the country to maintain its position as the giant of Africa, it must find a lasting solution to the lingering human capital deficiency.

Enelamah expressed optimism that the Federal Government, which had started making moves towards transforming the country, would tackle the human capital deficit headlong. CIPM had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Covenant University to improve human resource capacity in its undergraduates.

The president had said that the collaboration would facilitate a smooth transition of university graduates to the organisations where they would be hired, as most companies were seeking competent people who would manage their resources in the competitive environment.
