Workstations-Furniture-CopyAS part of measures to professionalize the practice of Human Resource (HR), the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has pledged to partner with all tiers of Government.

Speaking at the just concluded 2015 Annual National Conference of CIPM Nigeria, the President & Chairman of the Governing Council, Anthony Arabome explained that there is need to engage the Government on recognition for CIPM membership and professional certification, “as the minimum standard for the practice of HR Management in both the Public and Private Sectors of the economy”.

According to him, there is also need to Professionalize Human Resource Management in the public sector in Nigeria at the local, state and federal levels.

He said: “This year’s theme ‘Go Beyond’ illustrates alignment with where the 2014 theme ‘Switch On’ closed out last year. It is about taking ‘Switch On’ to the next level. This provides the impetus for us to develop competent and passionate HR practitioners and business executives who understand their business and the marketplace.

“These HR practitioners would help guide and influence corporate strategy, and develop a high-performance, engaged and competitive workforce.

“As a professional HR Institute, we are poised, at this conference, to facilitate and develop HR Practitioners as ‘real change leaders’. The 2015 Conference is unique in many ways, in that it offers a complete bouquet of thought-provoking sessions to challenge delegates with ideas and approaches that would expand their thinking and compel them to ‘extend’ themselves”.
