The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), has designed a new scheme tagged ‘Ready to Market’ to enhance competence and readiness of young graduates and freshly certified CIPM professionals for the labour market.

The President and Chairman of Governing Council, CIPM, Udom Inoyo at the launch of the scheme, stated that the programme was designed to close the obvious knowledge and experience gap of fresh graduates, who have completed CIPM professional exams but have no practical exposure.

He however, expressed optimism that the initiative would address the perceived inadequacies in the country’s educational system and enhance the participant’s employability as entry-level officers with practice experience.

The CIPM boss said the initiative, was part of the institute’s contribution to national development and enhancing the value proposition to its members and the society at large.

While commending partners and stakeholders, who collaborated with the institute on the project, he urged more organisations to partner with the institute on the initiative, stating the numerous benefits and significant value associated with the scheme.

In a remark by the special guest of honour, Senior Special Assistant to President on Job Creation/Youth Employment, Afolabi Imoukhuede, represented by Roland Akalugwa, member of the job creation unit, spoke on how far the Federal Government has gone through the N-Power programme on creation of jobs for youths.

He called for more industry partnership with the private sector to bring in the beneficiaries, who have been trained into their organisations and absorb them for employment.

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of CIPM, Ajibola Ponnle, said the programme, which is as part of the institute’s 50th anniversary celebration coming up next month, advised the participants to carry the values of the institute to organisations that they will be posted.

Head, Professional Standards and development, CIPM, Charles Ugwu, said the ‘Ready to Market’ is designed as a minimum of six months industry internship, which would include a six weeks intensive hands-on competence based experimental learning programme,
Presently, the pilot scheme is running pro bono with a rollout plan of 50 participants.
