CIPM cautions members against professional misconduct
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has cautioned the newly inducted members against unprofessional conducts. Speaking at the 25th induction ceremony of individuals in Administrative and Human Resource Officers of the Lagos State Civil Service, its President and Chairman of Council, Udom Inoyo said the dynamism in today’s world and work environment makes it auspicious time for members to be inducted as human resources (HR) professionals.
Inoyo said: “It is therefore the institute’s expectation that you will be good ambassadors, upholding the highest standards of professionalism as exemplified in our core values of service, creativity, result, integrity, professionalism and teamwork.”
He reiterated the institute’s commitment to continually equip members with the requirements to effectively deliver on their jobs, thereby contributing to National development.
“We are mindful that for true and sustainable transformation to take place in our country, a reform of the public service is inevitable,” he added. He commended efforts of the state government to effect changes by building human capacity, which he said, reaffirmed the state position as a trail blazer.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola commended the institute for its commitment to the state government in the professionalisation of human resource management (HRM) in the public service.
She recalled that one of the first decisions of the state government at inception was to ensure the professionalisation of HRM practices in the public service in line with international best practices.
She charged the newly inducted members to be good ambassadors HRM practices in the public service. “As association and full members of Nigeria’s prime human resource institute, you must live up to service excellence as public servants, internalising the professional ethics of the institute,” Ademola stated.
