THE Chief Executive Officer of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Oscar N. Onyema, has been named the most innovative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the year in recognition of his ‘tremendous role in the development of the Nigerian capital market’.

The award was presented at the inauguration ceremony of the ninth President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines & Agriculture (ABUCCIMA).

According to the Chamber’s Vice-president, public relations, Jude Igwe, the awards are given to only individuals who have consistently demonstrated uncommon resilience and innovation in their various economic engagements.

Commenting on the award, Onyema said, “I am honoured to receive the 2014 Abuja Chamber Award for Most Innovative CEO of the Year. While this award is personal in nature, it would not have been possible without the great team at The Nigerian Stock Exchange, who are making significant contributions to the development of the Nigerian capital market and Africa at large.

Besides, he noted that “The NSE has made great strides in its transformation journey which has brought about major reviews of its governance, market structure and operations, a stronger regulatory environment, and the implementation of innovations required for delivering a robust and efficient capital market”.

Also honoured by the Chamber according to a  statement are President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Sir Emeka Ofor and Olatunde Ayeni.
