THE commandant general of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps {NSCDC}, Ade Abolurin, has reiterated need for personal and security training for Nigerians.

The training according to him should include basic security tips, basic self defence tactics, adding that it should be incorporated in the larger plans as part of effort to address security challenges facing the country.

Speaking at the opening session of a three-day public safety workshop for media practitioners in Osogbo, Osun state capital, Solomon Olasupo, NSCDC Osun Command’s Education Liaison Officer, noted that the training would also equip journalists with relevant tips that would enhance their level of safety and security in the course of discharging their responsibilities.

Delivering a paper on media/security agents relationship, the Assistant Commandant Research and Training of NSCDC, Oyo state command, Hammed      Bodunrin, called for mutual respect between the two bodies stressing that they remain partners working together to achieve same objective but with different training and orientation.

According to him, proper identification by newsmen while covering public functions and good approach to security men on duties will go a long way in establishing better relationship between them.

He urged journalists to always observe basic security tips before going for any assignment, adding that personal security from their residence to office should be of paramount importance.
