Chemstar Paints holds staff week, rewards workers
THE Group Managing Director and Executive Chairman of Chemstar Paints Industry (Nig.) Limited, manufacturers of Finecoat and Shield Paint products, Aderemi Emmanuel Awode, has described its workers as greatest assets of the company.
According to him, such assets should be well motivated and rewarded in order for them to put in their optimal best needed to grow the production chains and the firm.
Awode, an engineer, spoke recently during the grand finale of the 2015 edition of the week long staff week, in Lagos.
The Group Managing Director, who recalled that the event, which is as old as the 20-year-old company, was instituted 15 years ago, as a platform for the workers to interact and relax after the busy previous year’s work, said the management and workers all look up to January every year for the week, which featured various sporting events.
While stressing that the company has a crop of dedicated work force, Awode noted that the over 700 workers are grouped into four houses – Gossamer, Grey, Jasmine and Pacific – which are named after the prominent colour of paints produced by the company, and in which they compete among themselves for trophies and prizes.
The company, which will mark its 20 years of quality service and product, according to the firm’s boss, introduced the week as part of the management’s strategies to give the workers the sense of belonging and to interact with one another in a more relaxed avenue other than on the job.
Addressing the workers, while drawing the curtains on the week, the Awode assured them of the company’s determination to make their work environment more interesting and attractive.
According to him, the winners and the winning houses will be rewarded appropriately with cash and gifts when the company would be celebrating its 20th anniversary.
