A middle-aged lover boy, one Eregare Jeremiah is now on the run after a lady he was having secret love affairs

A middle-aged lover boy, one Eregare Jeremiah is now on the run after a lady he was having secret love affairs with reportedly died of abortion related complications.

The deceased lady, Aisha Bello, who was said to be in her early twenties, was forced into an early marriage to one Alhaji Idowu Adamu, a wealthy businessman with strong political ties from Zamfara State in northern Nigeria.

Trouble started on September 26, 2022 in Irrua community, Okada in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State where the fleeing Jeremiah took Aisha to an undisclosed clinic to abort a two-month old pregnancy in a bid to protect their secret relationship.

They were accompanied on the mission by a friend, one Kehinde Dahiru.

Although, Aisha had done the abortion and left the clinic, she was constantly complaining of pains afterwards.

The pains became severe at her lower abdomen one week later, precisely on October 5, 2022, when she died while being rushed to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

Following her death, hell has been let loose in the sleepy community as her enraged husband stormed the area with security operatives in futile search for Jeremiah.

But they arrested Kehinde Dahiru for accomplice, and allegedly tortured her in detention to spill the beans. She revealed the location of the clinic where the abortion was carried out, in the process.

Alhaji Adamu was said to have stormed the clinic with both police and hoodlums, shut it down and whisked away two staff members after the resident doctor escaped.

As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the abducted healthcare workers remained unknown.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the late Aisha was a victim of child marriage. At the age of ten years old, she was betrothed to Alhaji Adamu because of his financial support for her poor family.

At 14, she was traditionally married off to Adamu as his third wife, and she bore him a daughter two years later when she was 16 years old.

Adamu, it was learnt, was responsible for Aisha’s secondary education, and even promised to allow her continue with her higher education later, which was part of the terms the early marriage was agreed upon.

At the time of her death, the victim was back in the community to complete her post primary education. She was billed to enroll for both the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) as well the university entrance examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Alhaji Adamu had given his approval to her request to continue her education after her first delivery.

Locals in the community who pleaded not to be named, revealed that Aisha had always publicly protested against her parents’ decision to marry her off at such an early age.

She was said to have threatened to elope with a man of her choice once she got into tertiary institution of learning.

But she had barely gained admission when bubble busted as the abortion blew open her adulterous affairs with Eregare Jeremiah, who got her pregnant out of wedlock.

As at the time of writing, the lover boy, Jeremiah has not been seen. His whereabouts were unknown. Sources hinted that he had travelled out of the country some days after the abortion was done.

Aisha’s husband and her parents were said to have visited his house both in Lagos and also his family house in Sapele town of Delta State.

There is apprehension that if found, Jeremiah might suffer the same fate as the two staff who was whisked away when Adamu stormed the clinic with police and goons.
