Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as spurious, the insinuation by some members of the House of Representatives from the state that the party is at loggerheads with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The party stated that the allegations made by the lawmakers were embarrassing, cautioning them against polarising the party ahead of the forthcoming election.

In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, said the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party and the governor had met to deliberate on the growth of the party in the state.

Some federal lawmakers from the state on Friday wrote an open letter to President Bola Tinubu alleging that Aiyedatiwa had created discord among members of the party, with the chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, sidelined and marginalised.

They also alleged that the governor had resorted to sending proxies to warn the chairman and pressure him to resign.

Reacting to the development, Kalejaye stated that the recent allegation of neglect of the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by some members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State is unfounded and embarrassing to the chapter.

“Members of the State Working Committee of the party, a few days ago, paid an unscheduled visit to the Governor, who put aside other engagements and accorded due respect to the SWC.

“The governor, who is also the leader of the state party, had extensive discussions on how to further build the party and promote unity within the fold, with a view to securing victory for APC in Ondo State come November.

“The governor never talked about personal ambition but rather expressed a desire to ensure a befitting burial for the departed leader, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.”
