An affiliate of the World Igbo Congress based in South Africa has berated the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for inviting soldiers to attack and kill Imo youths under the guise of checkmating the newly-established Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In a communique released after its monthly meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, last Saturday, the group wondered why the state government would take such steps against the security outfit who volunteered to protect the life and property of the people despite the brazen security challenges posed by Fulani herders roaming the bushes and farmlands with deadly and lethal weapons, destroying the people’s means of livelihood and inflicting an incalculable loss on the local communities while leaving a trail of sorrows and blood on their path.

The group said it was piqued that while northern governors and elite are openly rallying round, supporting, negotiating and rewarding terrorists and criminal elements marauding as bandits in the North, the Imo State governor would lend himself to such cheap blackmail and politicking by inviting killer-soldiers to kill his own people for daring to defend themselves and their ancestral land against Fulani invaders.

The leader of the group and South African Co-ordinator, Jeff Azubuike, reminded the governor that playing dirty politics with the lives of the same people whom he was elected to protect is the height of insensitivity.

He further reminded the governor that power is transient, hence he should use his current office as the state chief executive to enact laws that will guarantee the safety and security of all Imolites despite their political inclinations and party affiliations.

Also, the group’s National Mobilisation Officer, who spoke during the meeting, Anayo Didi Ogugua, drummed up support for the newly-established ESN and urged Igbo leaders in the Diaspora to support Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other well-meaning Igbo leaders in the quest for a Sovereign State of Biafra, saying that Nigeria as currently convoluted is skewed in favour of a certain ethnic nationality over others.

The group, therefore, resolved to give all necessary support towards the safety and security of their kit and kin back home while admonishing the governor to halt all ongoing military onslaughts against the peace-loving people of Imo State and be bold enough like his southwestern and Middle Belt counterparts to call the bluff of these rampaging Fulani killer-herdsmen to vacate the forests and farmlands to enable parents to return to their farmlands unmolested and without fear of being killed or raped by these terrorists disguising as herdsmen.

It also commended the efforts of the mother body (World Igbo Congress) based in the United States (U.S.) for taking up the gauntlet in identifying with Mazi Nnamdi for the general security and defence of the people back home; while bringing the attention of the international community and civil society organisations to the ethnic cleansing and war of attrition orchestrated by Fulani jihadists targeting mainly Igbo and Christian population in Nigeria.
