Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has assured that his administration will not allow the traditional stool of any community to be vacant for too long.
During the installation of the first Alale of Moriwi Kingdom, Oba James Taiwo, in Moriwi, Imeko-Afon Local Council, yesterday, Abiodun described the obaship as an important socio-cultural aspect of the Yoruba people.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape, the governor said the Alale’s appointment “is a call to serve,” as well as opportunity to create sustainable conducive environment for credible investors.
He noted that the new position should also be used to champion efforts that would further enhance peaceful co-existence among his people and neighbouring towns.
Abiodun enjoined the people of Moriwi and environs to cooperate with the new king, to bring about development they had been yearning for in the community,
The Local Council Chairman, Yaya Fadipe, in his welcome address, urged the monarch to embark on meaningful activities that would involve every member of the town for socio-economic and educational development of the area.
In his acceptance speech, the new monarch appreciated the governor for the trust reposed in him, promising to discharge his responsibilities with the fear of God, equity, fairness and justice.
