Residents, Motorists and communities of Victoria Island, Ikoyi and environs have extolled the state government over the completion of Glover Road few months after it was handed over to the communities.

Executive Secretary, VI/Ikoyi Resident Association, Engr. Abdulateef Muse, said prior to the completion of the road, it was a two-lane busy road that was usually congested but since its expansion with the full complement of a generating plant to power the streetlights, it has brought some improved development to the area.

He added that with the ongoing rapid development of the Atlantic City, there would be increase in employment and revenue generation, which would spread to VI/Ikoyi environs.

In the same vein, Otunba Michael Olasubomi, founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and a resident, eulogized the state for the construction, which he described as a divine intervention “because the road construction was not influenced by me or any individual.”

He recalled that in the early days, only a few Nigerians were living on Glover Road amidst the foreigners, but today he is happy to have a property at the focal point of the area after 57 years, which he attributed to God’s favour.

Earlier during the project handover, Governor Babatunde Fashola had said the project was a fulfillment of the state’s commitment to good road networks and security of life and property of residents in Victoria Island/Ikoyi and environs.
