Myanmar’s Election Commission says it wants to postpone next month’s general elections due to natural disaster, a report said on Tuesday.
The commission urged the major political parties to agree to postpone the Nov.8 elections due to pervasive flooding and landslides throughout the country.
Four parties agreed to the postponement, including the ruling army-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party, but the main opposition National League for Democracy refused to accept the delay.
The election commission has not yet announced a final decision
