Rapper Tory Lanez has something to say about the allegations by Megan Thee Stallion that he shot her last year after a judge ordered him to stay silent.
Lanez, in a new court filing on Tuesday, requested a modification to a court order that prohibits him from speaking about the ongoing criminal investigation regarding an alleged shooting incident back in July, with Megan claiming that he shot her after a house party in the Hollywood Hills. The rapper whose birth name is Daystar Peterson was charged with multiple felonies, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The filing comes after Megan took to Twitter last week to address rumours that the charges were dropped. “Y’all can’t tell when sh*t fake news? Y’all still don’t see an ABUSER picking with me? The first court date got pushed back bc of the inauguration but I can’t wait until the MF FACTS come out! B**ch you shot me AND MY STORY NOT CHANGING AND B**CH YOU GOING TO JAIL,” she wrote.
Lanez’s attorney Shawn Holley, in the court document obtained by PEOPLE, wrote: “Due to limitations placed on Mr. Peterson and his counsel under the protective order, Mr. Peterson has been unable to respond to Megan P.’s inflammatory statements or to provide his own clarifying statements.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. Her claims are and will be sharply disputed and contradicted by the evidence in this case,” including allegedly “mitigating” evidence of “gunshot residue implicating others.”
The attorney also added that Lanez’s “failure to respond to [Megan Thee Stallion’s] inflammatory and misleading statements may be interpreted as conceding to her claims.”
Lanez is currently facing a felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle for an incident that took place on July 12, 2020 in Hollywood Hills.
He is also facing a “gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury,” the DA’s office said in a press release in October.
His next court date is actually set for Feb. 25.
