Tom Iseghohi withdraws from LP guber primaries, cites lack of transparency, monetisation of process

A frontline gubanatorial aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), Prince Tom Iseghohi has withdrawn from the upcoming primaries of the party in Edo State.

A letter personally signed by Iseghohi, addressed to Mr. Julius Abure, National Chairman of the party, sighted by The Guardian, the aspirant said he is disappointed by the lack of transparency and the monetisation of the process at the expense of the selection of the best candidate with the popularity within the party and the capacity to win the general elections.

Iseghohi said he made his decision after observing, with keen interest, the process that is being utilised to nominate the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party.

According to him, the development is at variance with his personal value system, that of his political family and the interests of the people of Edo State.

Letter reads in part: “I have observed with keen interest the process that is being utilized to nominate the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party.

“As a participant in the process, I am disappointed by the lack of transparency and the monetization of the process at the expense of the selection of the best candidate with the popularity within the party and the capacity to win the general elections.

“This is at variance with my personal value system, that of my political family, and the interests of the people of Edo State.

“Consequently, after consultations with my mentors, advisers, my team and my family, I hereby withdraw from the nomination process in the Labour Party.

“I am grateful for your attention to this urgent matter and look forward to your prompt and decisive action.”
