The Uniqueness Of God Almighty

THE God worshipped by Christians stands apart from all other gods in a number of ways. He, therefore, vehemently discourages building of images in His honour. Indeed, he forbids it. “You must worship no other gods, but only the Lord, for He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you”- Exodus 34:14. When people give their honour, praise, and love to other things, God is jealous that the honour due him has been squandered elsewhere.

Because God deserves all our honour, praise, and love, this is an honest recognition of what He deserves. God’s jealousy is justified. He alone has the right to be jealous and to carry out vengeance. Jealousy and vengeance may be surprising terms to associate with God. When humans are jealous and take vengeance, they are usually acting in a spirit of selfishness. But it is appropriate for God to insist on our complete allegiance, and it is just for Him to punish unrepentant evildoers. His jealousy and vengeance are not tainted with selfishness.

Their purpose is to remove sin and restore peace to the world. Your knowledge of God on the above matter is to guide you to have, love, serve and worship Him alone.

More of God’s uniqueness is revealed to us in the Bible and it is important for us to recognise them. God reveals Himself as the only true God. The Egyptians had many gods with many different names. Moses wanted to know God’s name, so the Hebrew people would know exactly who had sent him to them. God called himself I Am, a name describing His eternal power and unchangeable character. In a world where values, morals and laws change constantly, we can find stability and security in our unchanging God.

The God that appeared to Moses is the same God, Who can live in us today. Hebrews 13:8 says God is the same “yesterday, today, and forever.” Because God’s nature is stable and trustworthy, we are free to follow and enjoy Him rather than spend our time trying to figure Him out. “Now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God-who chose you to be his children-is holy.” (1 Peter 1:15)
God is revealed as a Holy God.
