ALAT by Wema, Nigeria’s only fully digital bank has launched Tech Chicks, a platform dedicated to the promotion of young women blazing a trail in Nigerian technology.

Selected from nominations crowd-sourced on social media, the founding class of Tech Chicks includes software developers, tech founders, a cyber-security expert and a dentist. This year’s selection process was led by a panel of women achievers, the nominations were screened based on impact of work and mentoring potential.

Speaking on the launch of Tech Chicks, a representative of ALAT by Wema highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting women in technology and technology-driven businesses. “The field of technology does not have a reputation for accommodating women, and it is the responsibility of organisations like ours to celebrate the brave Nigerian women who have chosen to work in tech against all odds and to make sure they inspire many more young women contemplating similar careers,” she said.

ALAT by Wema intends to launch a mentorship program for women in tech later this year. To learn more about Tech Chicks, go to alat.ng/techchicks.
